Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour, plus holiday pay
The Guild of Students Welcome Team supports a variety of activities welcoming students to the university and their accommodation sites.
There are two types of Welcome Team roles due to the variety of activities over the Welcome period. Please review the requirements below and choose your preferred role when prompted on the application form. Please note you are not guaranteed your preferred role.
Arrivals Welcome Team
To welcome students moving into university accommodation, lift and carry their luggage into their accommodation sites and help them settle into new surroundings primarily during Moving in Weekend and Welcome Week Activities.
Paid Training – Wednesday 16th September 2026
Moving in weekend – Compulsory – Saturday 19th September with optional available shifts on Friday 18th & Sunday 20th September.
Welcome Week – Week commencing 21st September 2026 (A minimum of one 4-hour shift – multiple shift opportunities available)
Fairs Welcome Team
To support the Guild of Students in the preparation and delivery of Welcome Events and Fairs. To be friendly and welcoming, give directions and information on events and student groups. To assist with set up, pack down, and other logistical tasks such as door entry and queue management.
Training – Wednesday 16th September or Thursday 17th September
Welcome Week – Compulsory Days: Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd September, plus shifts on the 23rd/24th/25th (A minimum of one 4-hour shift – multiple shift opportunities available)
Closing date for applications: 09:00am on 20th April 2026
Interview Dates: Tuesday 5th May – Friday 8th May 2026

This to ensure you can be set up on the ‘system’ and be allocated shifts prior to training.
