Residence Life Assistant (Wellbeing)

Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour, plus holiday pay

Please note – this role starts in September 2026. Students should only apply if they will be studying across the whole academic year of 2026-2027. There are training requirements and may be ad hoc shift opportunities beforehand.

Residence Life Assistants (Wellbeing) offer peer-to-peer advice, guidance and support to students living in UoB & partner accommodation sites. Areas of advice include shared living, academic, wellbeing, finance and support settling into student life.

In this role you will utilise your experience as a UoB student and the training we provide, to offer support to students living in UoB & partner accommodation. This is a varied role that requires approachable, empathetic and self-motivated individuals working using your own initiative.

This role offers you a range of opportunities to gain skills and experience including (not exclusively);

  • Running the Residence Life Office on The Vale
  • Building relationships with students and supporting them on a 1-2-1 basis
  • Meeting with groups of flatmates to discuss shared living
  • Supporting the arrival of thousands of students across arrivals weekend
  • Supporting the running of events such as Housemate Finder and informational events

Hours: We ask our team to work 1 or 2 shifts between 4pm & 8pm per week and attend a compulsory team meeting, ranging from 1-2 hours, at 2pm on Wednesdays. The frequency of team meetings will decrease throughout the year.

Training: Please note that Residence Life Assistants (Wellbeing) are required to attend compulsory paid training and work on the following dates:

  • 11th & 12th June 2026 – Training
  • 14th, 15th, 16th & 17th September 2026 – Training
  • 18th, 19th, 20th September 2026 – Arrivals Weekend
  • Flexibility to work throughout Welcome Week – W.C. 21st September 2026

Group interviews for this role are provisionally expected to take week commencing 16th March 2026.

Individual interviews are provisionally expected to take place week commencing 23rd March 2026.
