Student Staff – Bar Assistant

Rate of Pay: £10.42 per hour, plus holiday pay

This role involves working as part of the venues team to provide an excellent standard of customer service, creating a warm, friendly environment that people wish to return to.

This role offers you a range of opportunities to gain skills and experience including (not exclusively):

• Customer service skills
• Experience of working within a busy venues environment
• Cash handling
• Working within licensing regulations

Hours: Bar Assistants are required to work up to 16 hours per week during term time. This role will involve working day and evening shifts, including regular club nights which finish at 4am.

Availability: You will be expected to work 2 out of every 4 club night shifts (including FAB and Sports Night). You will also need to be available to work during Welcome Week and the Guild’s Graduation Ball.

Training: Bar Assistants are required to complete mandatory online and in person paid training.

Please note that this position is only available to students studying at the University of Birmingham who will be a registered student until at least June 2025.
